Abstract
Several ‘sh-borne trematodes in the genus Haplorchis parasitize the small intestines of birds, reptiles, and mammals, including humans. They can coinfect with Opisthorchis species-small-liver->ukes-in Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) countries. Mixed infections are dif’cult to diagnose, speci’cally because the eggs of Haplorchis and Opisthorchis are morphologically similar. The ability to discriminate between haplorchiasis and opisthorchiasis is crucial for early warning of cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) caused by smallliver->uke infections.
