Abstract

The influence of PVA and cellulose on the properties of a PS/NR blend containing benzoyl peroxide and maleic acid as a crosslinking reagent was characterized by SEM, swelling ratio and hardness, tensile strength, DMTA and stress-strain behavior. The swelling of the polymer blend dramatically decreased after adding PVA. The hardness of the polymer blend decreased as a function of the cellulose in polymer blend. The stress of NR was improved by addition of PS and PVA in the polymer blend. The stress of the sample containing glycerol was lower than that of the sample without glycerol due to plasticizer effect of glycerol. The good dispersion of the cellulose in the polymer matrix was observed by SEM.
