Abstract

Drawing upon the global leadership literature, we explore factors associated with expatriate effectiveness in managing Thais in Thailand. Our analogically-based and semistructured interviews indicated five interrelated themes for success: guiding, bridging, emotionally supporting, socializing, and indirectly communicating. We conclude both global leadership competencies and Thai-specific behaviors are important for success.
