Assessing the “Phases” of Mathematical Modelling

Abstract

The seven-phase modelling cycle is well known and has been used successfully for over twenty years as a heuristic for teaching modelling. Assessment methods used over this period are reviewed and current research that investigates the use of multiple choice questions to assess the individual phases is reported.
