Abstract
Purpose. To measure the contrast sensitivity of patients after PRK. for mild to moderate myopia performed with the Autonomous Technologies (Orlando, Florida) small beam tracking excimer laser Methods. A crossseclional study was done to evaluate glare disability using the Vistech Multivision Contrast Tester (MCT 8000, Dayton, Ohio) in 32 patients who had undergone PRK with the ATC excimer laser 6 months earlier Contrast sensitivity was measured at 5 spatial frequencies in different lighting conditions day, day with peripheral glare, night, and night with central glare The treated eyes were compared to the untreated fellow eyes Results. There was no statistically significant difference in contrast sensitivity at any spatial frequencies in any lighting conditions between the treated and untreated fellow eyes P values ranged from 0 0581 to 0 4690 (0 274 + 0 264) Conclusions. At 6 months, PRK with the ATC excimer laser for mild to moderate myopia does not alter contrast sensitivity.
