Assistant Professor Dr. Wittaya Kaewsri is a faculty member at Mahidol University, Amnat Charoen Campus, specializing in Plant Diversity and Landscape Design. He completed his Ph.D. in Agriculture (Horticulture) from Kasetsart University and has accumulated years of experience in higher education and botanical research.  Dr. Wittaya's primary research interests center on the genetic and phenotypic diversity of Thai native plants, with a distinct focus on the Zingiberaceae (ginger) family, wild orchids, and indigenous medicinal flora. His taxonomic contributions include the discovery and description of several new plant species in Thailand, such as those in the Wurfbainia and Amomum genera. Beyond plant taxonomy, he applies his botanical expertise to landscape architecture, emphasizing the sustainable utilization of native plants in garden and landscape design.  As a dedicated researcher, he has served as a project leader for multiple ethnobotanical surveys and plant genetic resource studies funded by Mahidol University, and has collaborated on biodiversity projects supported by the National Research Council of Thailand. Furthermore, he actively serves on committees for the Plant Genetic Conservation Project Under the Royal Initiative, effectively bridging academic research with local community engagement and academic services.
